"Tango stāts" Concert

More hispanic events! if previously we had flamenco concert now today was time for some tango (the flamenco was more succesful).
Ok, being polite, on scene there were some of the most notable instruments used in tango, such the piano and the accordion.
A curious event, I was expecting that this was going to be a show where the tango dance was the main point but it turned to be actually more (as the title suggests) an on-live tale about the story of tango. Also, the orchestra itself was more important than the couple dancing.

The order of the event was more like this: a man (sitting in left side) telling a brief story about the origins of tango and its expansion across Latin America, becoming widely popular in its point of origin, Argentina. He was explaining it in latvian but fortunately I´m starting to understand things, specially when using familiar terms. Yes, the group was latvian, no argentinians here.

Basically the concert went throught like this: melody, storytelling, melody, storytelling, and so on. Not necessarily in the song there was the couple dancing, as I said, there was more importance in the orchestra rather than in the dancing style as shown in the last photos where the dancers are missing.

Little curious girl was not included in the event.

In this last photo we see something typical here: some members of the centre (or no-members) giving roses and flowers to the event´s crew as a sign of gratitude.

It was fine. Curious that it was only one hour when the events usually are two hours long. No needed to be fancy but people came like that anyway. I was expecting more focusing in the dance, but still the music was fine. Still, song and dance, the favourite things of Vidzeme.

String quartet concert "ReDo"

Special concert in a chamber room where the string instruments sound much better than in a wide scenary hall. Also, it give a special feeling as this concert was in a smaller room, not only that the sound quality was better but ambience was more pleasant...

But first of all! I´ve got to thank the janitor for advising me where the event was, otherwise I could have went back home frustrated and confused without knowing about where the supposed concert was going to be and then I would have missed it. Yeah, the references could have been better, or maybe it was me, who I just forgot to check some advise (if there was)

But coming again to the concert itself, It was simple but good. A calmed string melody always comes in hand for when you feel stressful or unmotivated for what it has come and what it has to come.

On other side note, it was interesting to see several kids in the audience, althought with theri respective parents, indeed.

Ingus Pētersons concert "Romantika"

Another event that filled the audience of Culture Centre´s scenary!
So this was Ingus Pētersos´ concert, a ballad singer (or what do you think "Romantika" means). Well, I´m not fan of this kind of music but, damn! it was relaxing. And, yeah, it was the most romantic event I´ve been for now in this project. I assure that.
    And when I say "romantic" is because something, as the concert move on to an interesting performance and more balad style...and the melodies became happier.

Also there were some orchestra moments. I like it. The thing that there is also time for the orchestra unveiling their skills and giving the importance they deserve in a concert.

And also there were some more performance like moments, where Ingus started singing in a restaurant´s table for going to more vivid songs.

Temporal exhibition of painting Tautas of 60 years old Fine Arts

I couldn´t know how to name it properly as the name of the exhibition is "Gleznu Izstāde" which is "Painting Exhibition" in latvian but this temporal exhibition which will be  held in the ground level of the Culture Centre during the whole month of april shows paintings of several veteran fine arts painters. It´s good to see that the materials are inside the familiar materials used for painting such oil and gouche, a friendly vision for contemporary times:

"Dzejas Slams" in Valmiera

In Gallery Laipa, an unique gallery in Valmiera, there was the event idea from "Dzejas Slams", which is a contemporary poetry group from Riga which assisted to the gallery to tell some 3 minutes new poetry, where guitars and alternative harmony comes...in latvian, well, I couldn´t understand properly what they said in each recital.
Beer was offered to costumers and gifts for the guests was asured. So, well, I´m not usual admirer of poetry, I´m more of prose, but I know that each nook of the art has the contemporary version. So is the poetry as well. Well, it´s fine, it has more instruments and more actual themes as well:

AMEN and Dzidra Bauma exhibition

April will be the month of arts in Valmiera and several things regarding the art and culture will take place in the town.
For now, we can start with a couple of exhibition in the Town´s Museum. One, called AMEN, where the two artists Aris Smildzers and Valdis Krēsliņš (who, by the way, was my drawing teacher in my Art Academy of Latvia period) expose their art, from 1995 to present years. Where Smildzers expose an abstract sculpture of a shining variety of materials, shining due the materials we see are materials which reflect light such aluminium, bronze or polychrome wood with a vivid variety of colour.

And then Krēsliņš where his paintings show several atmospheres and ambiences...I just stayed stuck in the homeless men paintings, those are my favourites precisely due I get the impression is a bitter mocking vision of the reality:

And then, in the upper level of the museum there was the exhibition of the painter Dzidra Bauma, whose timeline is wider and her paintings are a curious progress of her career shown in portraits.
